Key features
  • Periodized program builder: blocks, sessions, variations and typed sets
  • Automatic progression rules (linear, % of 1RM, double progression, waves)
  • Offline-first athlete app: set-by-set tracking, RPE / RIR, estimated 1RM
  • Coach notes surfaced in context, right on the exercise
  • Strict-boundary TypeScript monorepo + shared API contracts via Zod
  • NestJS + PostgreSQL/Prisma backend (JWT), React Native / Expo + WatermelonDB

About the project

HugeWorkout is a training platform built to bridge the gap between coaches and their athletes. On the coach side, a full builder lets you construct periodized programs across multiple weeks: blocks (accumulation, intensification, peak, deload, test), sessions, exercises and variations, typed sets (warm-up, top set, back-off, AMRAP, drop, cluster…), with load, rep and RPE targets.

Each exercise carries its own progression rules — linear, % of 1RM, double progression, 5-4-3 waves… — which automatically recompute loads week after week. On the athlete side, a premium, offline-first mobile app runs the session set by set, records perceived effort (RPE / RIR), estimates the 1RM and surfaces the coach's notes right in the exercise context.

The project is built as a strict-boundary TypeScript monorepo (scope: shared / api / mobile). API contracts are defined once through shared Zod schemas used by both the backend and the mobile app, guaranteeing a single source of truth. The NestJS backend runs on PostgreSQL and Prisma with JWT auth; the React Native / Expo app uses WatermelonDB to work fully offline and sync when the connection returns.
